Synology DS210j – 2 Bay NAS Review @ XtremeComputing

Quote: "If you’ve not heard of Synology before, it’ll probably be because they only make NAS devices (for home and office), and you’ve not really looked into any. The reason I say you won’t have looked into any, is because Synology are quite a big name in the NAS world, so you’d have been hard pressed to miss them."

OCZ Vertex 2 Pro, Sandforce Powered SSD Preview:
http://hothardware.com/Articles/OCZ-Vertex-2-Pro-SSD-Powered-by-Sandforce/

Intel has arguably held the pole position in terms of SSD performance with their X25-M series of drives, but OCZ and others have had their sights set on knocking Intel from their perch for a while now. Though fledgling SSD technologies are still very much maturing in terms of cost and density, performance increases are coming along at regular intervals, so we knew it would be only a matter of time before there was a serious contender. OCZ’s first gen Vertex series SSD came close to catching the X25-M’s performance, but the second coming of the Vertex, aptly dubbed the Vertex 2 Pro, is what OCZ claims will put them squarely in the lead.  In this article, we cover the performance profile of the new OCZ Vertex 2 Pro series 100GB SSD and present some information regarding the NAND Flash controller newcomer, Sandforce…

Pinnacle Studio HD Ultimate Collection V14 Reviewed

The trouble is trying to find a suitable video editing program on the PC that is simultaneously easy-to-use yet robust enough to give you all sorts of flexibility and features. In my quest to become the next James Cameron or Martin Scorsese, I had the opportunity to give Pinnacle Studio Ultimate Collection a try. Bowers & Wilkins Zeppelin Mini Review
"The Bowers & Wilkins name is practically synonymous with high-end sound. Since the original B&W 801 first appeared in 1979, the English company has enjoyed a great deal of success by producing some of the worlds finest and most stylish speakers found in recording studios and homes around the globe. In September 2007, B&W announced the Zeppelin iPod dock- an eye-catching, if a bit bulky, overachiever that has become a sort of modern design paradigm for the world of electronics. Now, B&W offers the Zeppelin Mini. Scaled down in size, the Mini promises to better fit your office, bedroom or living space and fill it with extremely high quality sound. In this review, we put the Zeppelin Mini through its paces to see if it earns its asking price of $400, and dig into some of its more unique features."

Sony Vaio X Series Review
"After teasing us with the sleek but useless Vaio P, Sony went back to the drawing board for the launch of Windows 7 to design an impossibly thin and light notebook unhindered by the many, many flaws of its predecessor: the Vaio X. Though it rides on netbook hardware like the P, a speedier CPU and larger, more usable form factor put this model head and shoulders above it. Unfortunately, the price moves accordingly to $1,300, making the Vaio X a truly amazing toy for those who can manage to afford one."

NitroX iConn+ Battery Case for iPhone Review @ [OC]ModShop

There are several battery packs available for the iPhone, all with their strengths and weaknesses. Some devices are "generic" and are meant to be used to charge any USB device, but these require one to carry the appropriate USB charge cable. Others are "emergency power" only and are very small and dangle precariously at the bottom of the iPhone. Most people don’t want to carry a bunch of extra gadgets and would prefer an integrated battery solution. NitroX agrees and have released their iConn Plus iPhone case with integrated battery power.

TITLE: Windows 7 System Image Disc Recovery @ Benchmark Reviews

DESCRIPTION: Very recently Benchmark Reviews published the Microsoft Windows 7 Upgrade and Installation guide, which helps erase the mistakes made by Windows Vista and introduces computer enthusiasts to the newly introduced O/S. Microsoft has enjoyed a successful launch for their Windows 7 Operating System, also referred to at Win7 or W7, and PCs have been made more productive and secure as a result. But like all good things that we receive, it’s in our nature to protect and keep them. The best way to accomplish this is with a solid backup, and luckily Windows 7 offers a built-in Backup and Restore tool for creating System Images. By creating a backup file users can preserve their data, but with a System Image recovering the source disk can be helpful when replacing the drive with another. In this article, Benchmark Reviews guides users on the best practices for protecting and Recovering Windows 7 with System Image Restore Disks.
